Knowledge is power
We understand that our economy needs intelligent people to drive it forward, and that’s why we dedicate so much time, money and effort to education. However, education is about more than just learning technical skills; it’s also about developing leadership ability. We’re not just investing in education we’re supporting the leaders of tomorrow.
Continuing education
By investing in today’s youth, we’re making sure that our future water and electricity sector will be run by qualified and professional people, with the necessary skills to take us forward in the right direction. ADPC Academy gives support and training to staff members, to develop their technical and managerial skills and to help them achieve excellence. We train employees on everything from electrical engineering and linguistics, to how to develop high-performance teams.
The ADPC scholarship programme allows UAE National employees to continue their education by studying at Higher Colleges of Technology or attending UAE University. Candidates can strengthen their technical, communication and analytical skills through academic programmes and hands-on job experience, while they maintain their employment. Scholarships sometimes provide funding for overseas study, allowing our employees to attend universities located in different parts of the world.
By encouraging post-graduate education we not only attract the brightest employees to the water and electricity sector, we also make sure that the future of our industry is in safe hands.
Committed to change
As well as offering scholarships, we also support many education and business conferences organised by local universities and colleges. ADPC were the main sponsor at the Symposium on Engineering Education and we also participated in the Sixth Cultural and Scientific Week, both held at UAE University.
ADPC regularly sponsor the bi-annual Education Without Borders conference in Abu Dhabi — an event organised by Higher Colleges of Technology, which brings together delegates from industry, education, humanitarian organisations and business to discuss world challenges and decide on the best course of action to tackle them.
Some of our other commitments include: sponsorship for trips to Canada and America, organised by Higher Colleges of Technology, aimed at developing creativity, business and investment; funding to develop and improve human resources programmes in the UAE; a programme to donate 600 computers to school children and another to teach computer training courses to 2,000 secondary school students in Al Ain.
Join our club
Another way that we aim to motivate young high-performers is by establishing science clubs at schools. The plan is to urge outstanding students to get together and share ideas, innovate and develop thinking on scientific matters. The clubs will provide an ideal learning environment for talented students to get more involved in studying particular fields like water, electricity and alternative energy.
