Our Account Closing is designed to ensure you can close your account smoothly and efficiently. After settling all your bills, you can apply for an account clearance certificate, which includes the recovery of security deposits and the formal closure of your account upon property evacuation. We also accommodate special requests to tailor the account closing process to your specific needs.

This request is free of charge, but customer needs to settle TAQA Distribution account to issue the closing account certificate.

This service is available to residential, commercial, industrial, agricultural, and governmental customers. Account Closing Procedure

Alternatively, customer can apply for the account closing request through the 'move out' option available via our website or mobile application, call 8002332 from the registered mobile number or send email to contactcentre@taqadistribution.com .


Cancelling Active Tenancy Contract

To close your TAQA Distribution account before the tenancy contract expiry, you can cancel the contract through Tawtheeq. TAQA Distribution will then create a "Closing Account" request in our system to proceed with the account closure.


Processing an Account Closing Application

We stop all our services, then we proceed to initiate a reading of the meters at your property. Manual meters require a technician visit, while smart meters are read automatically through our system. The final bill is generated, and the account is closed once dues are cleared and a Clearance Certificate is sent via email.


Account Closing Special Request

Special requests from authorized customers are reviewed by our Legal Department. If approved, the request is processed, and the customer is notified and if rejected, no further action is taken.


Expiration of the Tenancy Contract

When will I receive reminders about my tenancy contract expiry?

You will receive SMS reminders from our Billing System 60 days, 30 days, and on the day of the tenancy contract expiry.


What should I do if I plan to renew my tenancy contract?

Renew your tenancy contract through Tawtheeq electronic system 30 days before the contract expiry date. If you want to renew after the contract has expired you have a 30-day grace period, this will prevent service disconnection.


What happens after my services are disconnected?

After disconnection, if the due bill amount is paid, TAQA Distribution will issue and send the Clearance Letter to you.


Cancelling Active Tenancy Contract

How can I close my TAQA Distribution account before the tenancy contract expiry date?

Cancel your tenancy contract through Tawtheeq electronic system (Abu Dhabi Municipality). TAQA Distribution will receive a notification and create "Closing Account" request.


What are the steps taken after I cancel my tenancy contract through Tawtheeq?

After cancelling through Tawtheeq, TAQA Distribution will stop services and initiate a meter reading field activity. Smart meters are read automatically, while manual meters require a technician's visit. If the meter is inaccessible, the account stays open until access is provided.


Processing an Account Closing Application

What happens during the processing of my account closing application?

Once the final meter reading is obtained, our system finalizes the service agreement, generates the final bill, and issues the Account Closing Letter upon payment. You will receive an SMS and an emailed clearance certificate. If the due amount is unpaid, the case remains open until payment is made.


Account Closing Special Request

How does TAQA Distribution handle special requests to close an account?

Special requests are reviewed by the Legal Department. If approved, the account closing request is submitted within our system, and you will receive an SMS notification. If rejected, no further action is taken.

What should I do if I have issues with access to the meter?

You need to Coordinate with the technician by calling TAQA Distribution contact center 8002332 to provide meter access. If unresolved, the account remains open until the final reading is obtained.
